Our Trip to Sandpoint

Hi Folks! Sorry it's been a while but the three of us have been out of town this last week. I will post pictures soon, but I just have to share the adventure we had last night as we were driving home. So Noah did great on the flight out to Sandpoint, and pretty good on the way home, but the drives after the flights...now that's another story. The poor little guy was just done. We were driving home last night and Noah had not slept but 20 minutes in the previous 3+ hours so he was very tired. He became very upset in the car and we had to pull over in what I would imagine is one of the world's most dangerous highways (both due to traffic and people-sorry, but it's true). Justin and I are going back and forth about pulling over and eventually we do. I quickly get to the back seat and pull out the little one who is now making my heart break with his cry. I try my best to sooth him in the car, but had no luck. I was in all kinds of crazy positions folks, oh man, was it a sight to see. I tell Justin I have to get out in order to sooth him, so now I am standing along a very busy highway at dusk bouncing my child-yikes! He calmed down quickly once outside thankfully and I was able to put him back in the car seat. Justin and I continued our travels and talked about how exhausted we were. I was so delirious at that point I was even saying things like, "this root beer is very root beerey" (I mean, really?) If you know my son, you know he doesn't like to stay asleep long so he woke up somewhere around Novato with a very sad, I am not ready to get up cry. We had to pull over again and for the rest of the drive I was in the back seat talking to my little one who could barely keep his eyes open, but was definitely not going back to sleep. Justin and I sang 5 million (no joke) versus of The Wheels on the Bus with some very interesting lines of our own. It was a sight to see folks. We are home now and happy to be back in our routine. We had a great time up North and I will
share photos very soon.

One more Walsh Wedding Photo

Okay so apparently us girls are stealing pictures from each others blogs :) or if not that, posting links to each others blogs...(sigh), blogging and reading others blogs makes me so happy. Anyways, this picture is from Meredith's blog and I am not quite sure how she got it, as I know it is one of Darcy and Tom's wedding pictures. She wrote on her blog that she loves this picture because it captures our individual personalities and I couldn't agree more. I look THE SAME in every picture (minus the pregnancy weight of course) and Justin, well, let's just say he is smiling and I am smiling and that's GOOD! Usually our pictures are of him being silly/stubborn and me looking up at him telling him to smile or laughing at him because he is so goofy. Melissa has tales to tell of us and our picture taking skills. It's a fun picture from a memorable night out with great friends!

Okay, I'm doing it because everyone else is doing it. That's a good reason right?
(It worked in high school).

From time to time I will do iphone photos-a week in review. Now, I say "from time to time" because I may not be able to do weekly, but I will attempt.

I follow a friends blog and I love how she "transforms" her iphone pictures and I finally figured out the app and how to make a collage of them online. I did all this while my son was NAPPING longer than 45 minutes :). With my interventions (see below) he slept about 2.5 hours!!!
Yay Noah!

Here are my first pics. Now, I must admit, these are not all from this week, but oh well! From L to R and Top to Bottom

*Ready for my end-of-the-year work party all dressed up (you can't see his adorable shoes)

Crib Transition Update

Noah has had three nights in his own crib and he is doing well. I can't complain too much. Before the crib, and currently, he gives us a 5-7 hour stretch followed by a couple more hours. We have only hit 7 hours twice and before the crib transition he was giving us many 6 hour stretches. Since being in the crib he has been a solid 5. I truly have nothing to complain about in that department because many newborns at his age don't go quite that long, however, I would love another 6/7 hour stretch :) We have a video monitor so it makes worrying about him alone in his room much easier.

My next goal...
LONGER NAPS!!!

Our sweet little Noah likes to be part of the action. He doesn't sleep longer than 45 minutes during the day. Sometimes it is only 30 minutes at a time. In fact, right now I am working on keeping him asleep longer. He woke up at 45 minutes. I went in and it took about 10 minutes of patting his bottom before he drifted back off. He was awake a few minutes later... This happened a few too many :( times. He has been sleeping now for about 20-30 more minutes after the last bottom-patting attempt. I call that PROGRESS!! I must admit, it is very exhausting and doesn't allow me to get much done. I know he would feel so much better if he was able to get a nice long nap :)

Despite his short naps he is a happy fellow during this awake times. He loves watching Justin work in the garage. He enjoys laying on his activity mat and looking at himself in his new mirror. It is so cute! One of my favorite times of day is first thing in the morning once he is up for good. We bring him into bed and he smiles like crazy, talks to us, and just looks from side to side as we lay next to him....so sweet! I know this won't last forever so I am soaking it up now :)

Alright, we would love prayers and positive thoughts on the daytime sleep! I know it could just be a phase, although, I also know that it could just be part of who he is...that would be a bummer. Once again, nighttime is going well so I really have no room to complain! Keep up those great nights little man-thanks!

On a personal note...
I got a bike. I love it! Can you guess who is even more excited that me-yup, Justin! He is thrilled beyond words that we can go on family bike rides with Noah in the Burley bike trailer. J is waiting patiently for me to give him the go-ahead. We bought the infant insert and it does seem very safe, but I need to wait a little longer to feel comfortable.

Official 2 month pictures

Okay, so last month I loved the basket and thought I would use it month after month. I tried it this time and just wasn't feeling it...so then I went with plan B-Noah lying down. It worked okay. Now I don't know what I will do next month...maybe I will come up with a new pose for each month. What have I gotten myself into? :) In the best picture of Noah I cut off the number 2, but oh well. I hope next month the pictures will be noticeably better because I will have a new camera. A big shout out to a dear friend for giving me her old camera body and helping me pick out a new lens. I'm not saying my talent will be any better (well, maybe over time) :), but a nice camera will be by my side! Here is our sweet Noah at *around* 2 weeks old (more like 9 weeks...shhhh :)

Alright blog followers...tonight is a big night...
Noah will be in his own crib for the first time during the night. I am prepared for a rough night, although I have hope that it won't be too bad. I have tried reading online to get advice from other mothers who have done the same thing...but most people just say, "stick it out, do what works for you" (yeah, that's real helpful ;) so we will see how it goes. I pray that it is what will be best for all three of us, but especially our sweet son. Wish us luck!

Darcy's Wedding Weekend

A good friend from high school celebrated her wedding this last weekend! A big congrats to Darcy and Tom! It was a fun-filled weekend that began on Friday and didn't end until Monday. Our friend Bri from high school came out for the wedding and stayed with us! She was our first non family house guest! We even had a "sleepover" on Sunday night with Melissa and Cambrie-it felt like old times! Noah and I loved the company as J worked for much of the weekend. He was here for the wedding though!! I did not have my camera with me as I knew Melissa and Bri would both be in picture mode! Below are a few pictures to document the weekend :) Thanks for the pictures Melissa!

The happy couple! And I don't say that because it's just what you say...they truly seemed overjoyed and I loved watching them enjoy their wedding.

Boys being silly...

Doesn't pregnancy suite her so well! You are beautiful Meredith!

Enjoying lunch on Friday after Bri got into town. I am holding the adorable Miss Cambrie.

Bri playing with Cambrie at Darcy and Tom's Open House the day after the wedding!

My dear friend Melissa with my sweet little man! He did great all weekend. He spent some time with us girls as well at with Nonni and Grandpa so Mommy and Daddy could enjoy the wedding!

UHS!!!! On Sunday the 6 of us (2 babies on board) went to Ursuline and walked around remembering high school and all the times we had together. Noah slept on me most of the time-good job bud! Cambrie is not in this picture as she is in her stroller and the stroller was our camera stand :)

Here we are at our Sunday night sleepover :) I feel as though we have barely changed sometimes...except for the fact that I will be thirty this year (ahhhhh) and I am feeding Noah in the picture :)

All of us together at Darcy's new house :)

2 Months!!

Noah turned 2 months old on June 6th! Is it really June already...crazy. We have been very busy lately so I haven't yet taken his 2 month picture with his number like I did at 1 month, but I will soon. Here are a few pictures taken over the last few days. We finally have some sun and we are enjoying every minute of it.

Look at those handsome boys of mine!

I bought a mirror that I could lay down on his activity mat and he loves it. He talks and talks to himself. It is so cute to watch.

I know, preppy and handsome right? He got all dressed up (cause let's face it, he is never this dressed) to go to my end of the year work party. It was the first time he had worn shoes :)

More to come soon! Justin has been gone quite a bit so it is hard to find time to blog. I will though :)
